Hi Sibrand
Nice to read some news from you since many months
The new enlightning of your tank is very well done! It looks more like daylight now and the background is much better set in scene than before.
... what else remains to be said? Your tank stays a masterpiece

Vielen dank!
We also like it better, because the background is more visible now.
In Holland I started a forum some years ago, with a very good friend of mine.
Unfortunately my friend died 1 day before last ChristmasThat might be the reason that I was not online for a long time.
-
.... ouff... what a sad tragedy! .. My deepest sympathy

Thanks a lot, Steffi!
But after all, life goes on for most of us...

Thats really a beautiful tank!
-
Hello Sibrand,
thanks for charing. The Cyprichromis are really beautiful.
-
Still Looks good! How the Nasuta behave? They do do better than the Cyathos?
-
Thanks a lot for the nice compliments!
Hi Simon, the nasuta's are doing very well so far.
So yes, they do better than the Cyatho's did.
-
Last weekend we added 5 small Neolamprologus tretocephalus to our tank...
And I got the change to make a nice deal at a store in Holland.
We will exchange our last 12 attenuatus F1 for some ...?
-
Hi Sibrand
This is a very beautiful and attractive addition
Your huge tank may handle well the hot temper of the Tretos
Tell more about your nice deal! -
The nice deal for us is that the store where I buy most of my fish had a species that I never saw before in Holland.
I know that this species is better available in Germany, but not here.
It's about the Neolamprologus callipterus. I ordered 11 young ones at the store and they will keep them till we pick them up.
A friend of mine likes to get 3 of them (1/2), but first we have to see how many males and females we get. That is not visible yet.We will put them in the attenuatus F1 tank for some time.
Later we have to see if it combines with the multifasciatus and ocellatus.
If not, we might combine the callipterus with Telmatochromis bifrenatus (if available) or with the Telmatochromus vittatus.
Then we have to skip the multifasciatus and the ocellatus.I am not sure if the callipterus combines well with our nasuta's, but we will wait and see...
Some advice is welcome

Hi Sibrand
In the following article (unfortunately in german language) you'll find interesting informations about Lamprologus callipterus and a list of further literature:
-
Steffi: Vielen dank!
I can read and understand most of the German language.
My only problem is to talk or write in the German language
I already did a lot of reading about the callipterus, but I will read the pdf-article of course!
What you can not find in most of the books is: the possible combination of fish.
I know that the callipterus can be seen in the lake together with vittatus and also attenuatus.
So these combinations may not cause any problems.I wonder how the callipterus combines with ocellatus, spilopterus and nasuta...?
But most of the time you just have to try it out, before you know it -
Here a short movie with some of the young tretocephalus

Last weekend our attenuatus male died, just after a possible spawning
The size of the male was 14 cm. Sorry for the sad news!
We added the 8 callipterus to our tank and we removed all of the the ocellatus. They are too aggressive towards the callipterus.
An ocellatus pulled out a callipterus by it's tail from a Neothauma shell
The female attenuatus is in the small tank now, waiting for new fry hopefully...?
