    I speak Dutch, but wil translate it into English and German.
    I like xenotilapia varieties a lot. I have x. Flavipinis, x. Spilopterus, x. papilio tembwe and x. Sp. Papilio sunflower isanga
    Who has experience with them and has some answers to my questions. I know that in nature x.spiloterus and x.flavipinis mate for several cultures in a row and then separate. What is your experience in aquarium. Is this also the case? Does anyone know if x.papilio stays together in nature or also part ways again after a while. And what is your experience with this in aquarium?

    Hi, Ich spreche Niederländisch, werde es aber gut ins Englische und Deutsche übersetzen. Ich mag Xenotilapia-Sorten sehr. Ich habe x. Flavipinis, x. Spilopterus, x. papilio tembwe und x. Sp. Papilio Sonnenblume Isanga Wer hat Erfahrung damit und hat einige Antworten auf meine Fragen. Ich weiß, dass sich x.spiloterus und x.flavipinis in der Natur für mehrere Kulturen hintereinander paaren und sich dann trennen. Was ist Ihre Erfahrung im Aquarium. Ist das auch der Fall? Weiß jemand, ob x.papilio in der Natur zusammen bleibt oder sich nach einer Weile wieder trennt? Und was ist damit auch deine Erfahrung? Danke

    meine Xenos ( halte Xenotilapia Flavipinnis kabogo und Xenotilapia Papilio Kanoni) sind sehr Treu und bleiben über mehrere Bruten zusammen.

    Es gab schon mal Stress bei einem Paar , wegen Verlust der Jungtiere, haben sich aber wieder zusammen gefunden nach ein paar Tagen.

    Ob sie in der freien Natur , im See, auch wieder zueinander gefunden hätten ......

    Hab sie dort beimSchnorcheln schon beobachtet. Aber nie so lange bis zur Beziehungskrise und Paartherapie . :joint:
    Würde denken das sie sich da nen neuen Partner gesucht hätten.

    Bei mir im Aquarium sind sie treu.

    Die erste Brut lasse ich sie immer durchführen auch wenn sie die wehendem weiteren Besatz nicht durch bekommen. Sonst istDie Paarbindung gefährdet. ( mein Bauchgefühl)

    Für mich sind Flavipinis nach ca. 5 Kulturen getrennt. Ich habe nur 1 Paar. mss bleiben sie besser zusammen, wenn Sie mehrere Paare behalten? dann gibt es mehr Konkurrenz, aber dann müssen sie in einem ziemlich großen Aquarium sein. Wenn sich dann das Paar trennt, dann fällt es den Individuen sehr schwer, denke ich?

    Mehr als zwei Paare hab ich nicht etabliert bekommen in 200 x 80 x60

    In den kleineren Becken jeweils nur ein Paar

    Hab die Flavipinnis nun schon einige Jahre,

    Schätze mal 4-5 Jahre ......... weis nicht mehr genau.

    Kann man hier bestimmt irgendwo nachlesen

    i get 2:2 from Reiner flavipinnis kabogo.

    They are in a tank 130x60x40cm with 20 Cyprichromis leptosoma turquise flame.

    Since two years i`ve got about 6 times some fry in this tank.

    There are wo pairs - and all fry from one pair stay at the right site in the tank or from the other pair at the left site.

    2 weeks is the distance they ar breeding.


    In another than i have 2:2 flavipinnis nyanca lac - it`s the same.

    Times ago i have in a tank 10 Papilio kanoni - the sice 100x60x40cm, no problem with two pairs are breeding the same time.

    Now i have 9 papilio tembwe 5:4 building one pair in 150x55x55cm with Cyprichromis leptosoma blue flush


    Last week i see in a tank about 25 papilio msalaba - there are 6 pairs with eggs in the mouth.

    Looks very nice. But he sold buy nothingw;ke:)


    You have to pay attention to the setup

    My flavipinis milingu breed 5 times. Then they seperate and fight. Now they dont fight annymore. Maybe they will breed again. I only have 1 pair in 160 cm. Maybe when they are in a group, the pairs will stay together better? Youre pairs always stick toghether and dont fight? Maybe next time i will try a group.

    maybe it makes a lot of difference how the pool is set up.
many rocks and hiding places help with many fish species. with Xenotilapia it seems to be the opposite.
My cymbals are very "decorated". looks good, but annoying for the fish. @Thomas . nice that it works so well for you with the Kabogo

    in the Moment i have 6 jung Flavipinnis in a Group to Grow Up

    After one Couple came together...... i had to take the four others out.

    I would like to keeping them in a Group. Maybe in a empty Tank.
    one Stone, no Plant.
    Not in my Tank.
